YUTA x yuta

Taken at face value, Fudo is a combination of the Japanese characters for wind and earth. But Japanese is a very symbolic language and Fudo is also a term that describes the interconnectedness of the natural environment and human behavior that shapes the culture of a place. In this case, that place is Hokkaido.

As a longtime skier who found a new craft to slide on, Yuta Shimomura discovered changing his pace and his approach offered a renewed appreciation of place. No longer seeking the steepest lines, Yuta is now focused on overlooked terrain as he reflects on the changing seasons at home near Mt. Yotei.
